Gogomo Named One Of "Ten Emerging Mobile Players to Watch in 2007"
Gogomo, Inc. today announced it has been selected by IDC as an emerging mobile player in its annual "Ten Emerging Mobile Players to Watch in 2007" report (IDC #204820) that is playing a key role in defining and realizing the emerging wireless content interoperability opportunity. According to IDC, content interoperability is one of the major unmet market opportunities for the wireless industry, and all key players in the wireless content value chain recognize that the need for interoperability is rapidly growing.
"IDC believes that interoperability solutions incorporating centralized metadata registry-type functions like GoGoMo's are a compelling approach, as they can address key issues such as transaction tracking and revenue reconciliation, provide additional monetization opportunities for mobile operators and content owners such as building mobile communities, mobile advertising and transaction data mining, and reduce operational expenses for both mobile operators and content owners," said Scott A. Ellison, Vice President of Mobile and Wireless Communications, IDC.
IDC has previously identified wireless content interoperability as a key missing component in the mobile ecosystem, given the tremendous growth of the wireless content market on a global level, with the U.S. wireless content market alone forecast to exceed $7.5 billion annually by 2009. The potential impact of wireless content interoperability is enormous, both in terms of its potential short-term and long-term impacts. The closest analogy is the explosive growth of short message service (SMS) in the United States, which occurred almost instantly after the implementation of SMS interoperability in the summer of 2003, with interoperable SMS forever changing mobile usage patterns.
"Gogomo believes that in order for content interoperability to achieve widespread adoption it needs to have a neutral core metadata registry that benefits all the players in the mobile value chain in a non-competitive way," said Jeff Davis, Founder and CEO, Gogomo. "Gogomo's infrastructure and applications, such as its patent-pending metadata registry platform and applications such as media sharing, gifting and shifting are enabling mobile players such as mobile operators, media companies, content providers and application providers to interoperate in ways never before possible."
Gogomo provides a suite of mobile content sharing and shifting products that are designed to give mobile operators, content providers, and brands the content flexibility and portability that they want within a digital rights management framework to provide revenue recognition and content tracking across networks, devices, and end-users. Gogomo has several patents pending on its metadata management platform that is designed to transform disparate content supplier catalogs into a unified registry to efficiently manage and track content from user to user and device to device within and across carrier networks. Gogomo’s Open Metadata Architecture integrates standards-based metadata management, policy rights framework, device profile management and analytic intelligence in a single, flexible platform.
