@ CTIA: Interoperability’s Lost Opportunity Cost
At a panel on P2P at CTIA today, Michael Wehrs, Chief Technical Evangelist, AOL had a very interesting data point, where it all becomes real: There is a 15 percent ARPU drop for the first two months when a user moves from one handset to another, as user take that much time to build up content and other services on the new phone. That’s a huge money pool waiting to be optimized….the implication being that’s why interoperability is so important across handsets and networks.
